CONVERSATIONS THAT MATTER
Leadership for the challenges of today – with Heike Grosch
Heidi writes
Today we are witnessing the total breakdown of the “traditional” way of leadership. Political leaders lack any compassion with their people and act out of self interest and ideological, narrow minded goals in the ruining the economy and the lives of most people in their countries. People get traumatized, especially children who would need to be positive about their future and their possible contributions to the world. Instead, deliberately by the political leaders, they are thrown into fear and the obsession of being guilty. Depression and despair instead of joy and aliveness.
Worse leadership is hard to even imagine, while really good leadership is not only possible but desperately needed, especially right now.
What are some markers of good leadership? First of all the ability to see oneself and one’s task embedded in a bigger picture. When problems are tackled, leaders need to check all possible paths to solutions and never believe that there are no alternatives to their own favorite ideas. They also need to have a good knowledge of themselves to realise when their actions are driven by their personal triggers and predilections or if they are oriented by the intent to serve the greater good of the people and the countries which they are leading. True leaders need to have the ability to step into other people’s shoes, to emphatically anticipate the impact of their decisions and actions. They need to be clear about their own values and how far these are compatible with their task. Moral competence is a requirement which, at present times, seems totally lacking among those who rule our countries.
In my conversation with Heike we talked about leadership in the context of business. She knows very well the shortcomings of traditional leadership methods and requirements, which in terms of integral speak are neglecting the “right hand quadrants” and overstate the “left hand quadrants”. They favorise “objective” facts and processes to internal states of being which always influence human behaviour and decisions, whether we like it or not. As long as we are not fully aware of and aligned with our own inner conditions, our external actions are doomed to fail and potentially create huge harm – as we can witness all over the world in this present moment when power driven individuals expose their lack of human understanding and care.
We all have to unlearn “orange” addiction to external success by all means and embrace deep listening to each other creating authentic and trusting relationships. We need to rebuild our societies from bottom up, come together in small groups and then connect into networks with similar values. Emerging leadership is characterised by the attempt of creating a more human and not overly digitalized society. How can we do that?
Heike is offering Mastermind Groups, where people connect easily on a very deep level and from there learn together new ways of approaching not only work, but life itself. Furthermore she is leading a leadership course for people who understand that the present leadership paradigm is counterproductive and even destructive to the wellbeing of the people involved. She offers the space and the tools for the participants to enter into a wider perspective and to develop themselves into more capable and grown up human beings who can serve their purpose, at work and in life, in a much more efficient and sustainable way.

About Heike Grosch
Drawing on 17 years of experience in management positions, both as Production Manager and General Manager, Heike Grosch founded her consciousness-focused organizational consultancy Matching Fusion in 2020. She helps organizations and their leaders make changes in their corporate cultures to promote new work environments powered by humanity, a sense of purpose and personal and economic sustainability in an effort to drive personal and organizational development and innovation.
Born and raised in a bakery, she started her professionell career by becoming a baker and a confectioner.
Even at that time, sustainability and high-quality products were important to her. That is why she became a master baker and business economist.
With the responsibility in the leading positions came the interest and enthusiasm in developing people.
The joy of movement and the connection to herself, that she could feel, brought her to yoga and meditation.
It was a very impressive experience, that she accepted the call to become a yoga teacher and thus integrated an even more holistic approach into her leadership style within the management position.
She noticed more and more that the way people exchange ideas and communicate is important for the quality of what emerges through these people. So she dealt intensively with community building. In order to support organizations with the idea of community building, she completed training as an organizational coach.
As a consultant for consciousness-focuses organizational transformation she draws on all this knowledge, experience and enthusiasm.
